Purpose of the Guide

This Guide is designed to help local school districts improve practices they use to attract, hire and support educators. The guide is based upon the following assumption:

Goals of the Guide

Users will:

• Increase their understanding of good practices for attracting, hiring, and supporting educators
  
  
• Be able to recognize where they are on the continuum of good practice at attracting, hiring, and supporting educators
  
  
• Be able to identify and implement specific practices that will move their school up on the continuum of good practice for attracting, hiring and supporting educators.

Note about the Scope of this Guide

Many of the factors and practices associated with attracting, hiring, and supporting educators overlap with other larger school reform issues. This guide focuses on those issues only from the perspective of attracting, hiring, and supporting educators.
