Online Tutoring for K12 Students

The following list provides basic information about several online providers of tutoring for K-12 students. It is not an exhaustive list, but rather a place to start if you are looking for such services for a child.

Here are providers who are currently approved for Title I Supplemental Educational Services.

Here is information about online K-12 courses and virtual high schools.

Things to consider when looking for an online tutor:

Online vs Face to Face - Is online instruction using the Internet appropriate for the student? Will the student need tutoring assistance or will a program without regular ‘real-person’ help be engaging and adequate for the student?

Web Accessibility - If the child has special needs, is the online content fully compliant with web accessibility standards? For example, can the content be read by screen reader software for visual impairments? Is the font size able to be adjusted by the user or is it a fixed size no matter how much you resize your browser display window?

Technology skills - Do users need special software or plug-ins on their computer to allow all the functions of the program to work? If so, is there an easy to understand help guide to help users with little technical experience do this?
