Bartlett School
District - We’ll purchase
31 sub-notebooks and provide professional development to
begin a 1:1 computing program for our fifth/sixth grade looping
class. The tools will engage our students in 21st Century
skills to prepare them for a technology-driven world and
improve their writing skills. The students will be tracked
through Performance Pathways for four years to evaluate the
effectiveness of the program. Teachers are excited and ready
to begin! |

| Lafayette Regional School
District - Our pilot program,
21st Century Classroom, puts the research of the ideal learning
environment for today’s children into practice by creating
a fourth grade classroom equipped with laptops for each child
and digital tools that engage all students. The technology
will be integrated into the entire year’s curriculum
to facilitate teaching the skill set needed for students to
be active citizens in a global economy and digital lifestyle. |

| Newport School District - Rethinking
1:1 Can it be even better? Each
classroom will have enough digital tools to create a 1:1
environment. However, it will not be of the same tool. Each
class will have the equivalent of 4 to 5 equipment stations
that will have shareable technology resources for teams of
4-5 students. Included in this technology toolkit will be
one laptop or sub-notebook style of computer, two digital
cameras, two flip video camera, two iPod & iTalk units,
and 5 thumb drives. This will assure us that every student
team will have 1:1 access to a variety of tools in the classroom
given the premise that every student does not need every
tool every minute of the day. |

| Seabrook School District - The Seabrook School District
seeks funding to equip their newly established reading lab
with a classroom set of 30 mini laptops and 1 interactive white
board. The reading teacher will contract with outside
sources as well as in house master teachers for professional
training and the development of an instructional reading program
that will provide technological motivation, differentiation,
privacy, and a means for tracking individual student success. |

| Chester School District - Recently,
Chester Academy students created Ebooks and podcasts through
NCLB grant funds. The integration of technology enhanced the
core curriculum, and sparked excitement and new levels of learning
for both students and teachers. News of the project success
spread and many teachers now want to enhance their curriculum
with the technology. This summer eight teachers and four tech
coaches will work together to develop plans to implement Ebooks
and podcasts with their students next year. |

| Concord School District -
We will train teachers
in both basic use of SMART Boards and in the specific content
area of math and grade level classroom applications using
a three day conference approach where teachers can self select
which training is appropriate for them. They will choose
to attend 1) SMART Board 101 Basic Training, 2) Using the SMART
Board to Teach Math Effectively,
3) SMART Board Notebook Software Clinic, or
4) Teaching with a SMART Board Clinic.
They will create
at least one lesson a month that will be shared with their
colleagues in an online common folder and will collect data
on two students that scored below proficient on the NECAP
using the Everyday Math’s Individual Profile
of Progress model. |

| Manchester School District - The Manchester School District
will use the funds to offer digital artifact training in the
form of digital video to 20 Manchester School District teachers.
This training is being offered through the Greater Manchester
Professional Development Center on July 15–16 at Mountain
View Middle School in Goffstown, NH at a cost of $250.00 for
the two-day series. |

| Shaker Regional School
District - The Shaker Regional School
District has made a strong commitment to providing professional
development around the use of SMARTBoards by supporting the
certification of our high school technology integrator as a
SMART/SENTEO trainer. Based upon the successful high
school model he developed, the technology integrator will expand
the training district-wide to ensure that teachers can expand
their skill set and infuse SMARTBoard technology into their
instructional practices. |

The Enhancing Education through Technology Program (commonly
known as No Child Left Behind, Title II-D Program) will issue one
more round of grants to districts in 2007-08. These are previously
unspent technology funds which must be disbursed by districts by
no later than September 30, 2008.
A total of approximately $85,000
is available for funding in awards of $5,000 for professional
development grants or $30,000 for technology
pilot project grants.
The official “Request for Proposals” outlines
how a district may apply for these funds. It contains important
information on the background of the federal program and its
requirements. Please review all pages of the RFP to learn how
to apply for Basic Competitive Grants. Applications must be submitted
according to the RFP guidelines using the application form provided.
The application deadline is June 16, 2008.
