www.nheon.org/oet/etnews U.S. Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings is seeking ideas on the integration of technology in education. They are requesting feedback on the following questions: 1) In what ways has technology improved the effectiveness of your classroom, school or district? 2) Based on your role (administrator, parent, teacher, student, entrepreneur, business leader), how have you used educational data to make better decisions or be more successful? 3) In what ways can technology help us prepare our children for global competition and reach our goals of eliminating achievement gaps and having all students read and do math on grade level by 2014? 4) What should be the federal government's role in supporting the use of technology in our educational system? To share your comments and suggestions, please click on the "Add Your Comment" box at www.ed.gov/about/offices/list/os/technology/roundtable.html or send an e-mail to edtech@ed.gov. ATTAIN – Achievement Through Technology And
Innovation – was introduced on Wednesday, May 23rd, 2007 in the House of
Representatives by Representatives Roybal-Allard (D-CA), Hinojosa (D-TX), and
Biggert (R-IL). This is the legislation developed to replace EETT in the
reauthorization of NCLB. It was developed with the help of SETDA, ISTE, CoSN,
and SIIA with input from educators all across the country. This legislation
builds on key features of EETT and narrows the focus around ed tech programs
based upon evidence learned in the past several years with the intent of having
a stronger program. There is still an opportunity for your district to participate in the OPEN NH/LESCN Math-Science Partnership Grant. The benefits to your district are:
- Free OPEN NH online courses (valued at $100 per course) - Funding for your own locally developed math and science workshops to promote application of course content in your district (4 meetings valued at $1,600) - Free participation with other districts in 4 workshops that will promote discussion and application of science and math course content with other participating districts (valued at $4,000)
For more details on how your district can become part of this grant opportunity, contact Ken Greenbaum, CACES Co-Director at kgreenbaum@mv.k12.nh.us or 603-753-6583.
