ETNews is sent monthly (and sometimes more often) to New Hampshire school tech coordinators, library media specialists, and anyone else interested in receiving news about technology, information literacy, and such things. NCLB Title IID Basic Competitive Grants

The application form and guidance for the 5th round of funding from Enhancing Education Through Technology (NCLB Title IID) is now posted online at www.nheon.org/oet/nclb. Districts will note that this is a different application than in previous years due to the federal budget cuts and the changed legislation regarding competitive vs. formula funding. The deadline for proposals is October 31, 2006. A rubric for proposal evaluation is included in the application guidance.

Technology Plan Approval Rubric

The rubric used by NHDOE to review and approve District Technology Plans has been revised to include reference to the ICT Literacy Standards (Ed 306.42). The updated version will be available online on September 1, 2006.

OPEN NH Online Professional Development for Fall!

OPEN NH, New Hampshire’s Online Professional Education Network is currently accepting registrations for its fall session courses:

·    Supporting Literacy Development in Lower Elementary Classrooms

·    Supporting Literacy Development in Upper Elementary Classroom

·    Differentiating Instruction to Accommodate Learning Styles (Lang. Arts)

·    Making the Most of Adolescent Literature

·    Accommodating ESL / ESOL Students in the Classroom

·    Skills for Teaching the Prevention of HIV/AIDS and STD's

·    Differentiating Instruction to Accommodate Learning Styles (Math)

·    Designing a Virtual Field Trip (Science)

·    Transforming the Classroom with Project Based Learning (Science)

·    Integrating Primary Sources into the Social Studies Classroom

The OPEN NH face to face Orientation meetings for the Fall Semester will be held on Tuesday, October 10th and Wednesday, October 11th, at each of the local educational support centers.
