E-RATE UPDATE

Funding
Commitment Decision Letters
On 11/03/04, USAC
announced it would begin issuing new funding commitment decision letters
(FCDL) within the next two weeks and will follow the prioritization
principles posted to the program’s website on 10/27/04. Generally,
commitments will be issued for the previous funding year first and then, for
Funding Year 2004, requests for telecommunications services and Internet
access (Priority 1) first and, for schools and libraries, internal
connections second. If funds are not sufficient for all pending requests
within one priority, requests will be funded based on the date the
application review was completed. For Funding Year 2004, USAC expects to
issue periodic "waves" of commitments. USAC cannot predict the
exact timing at this time, but expects at least one such wave a month. More info…

Tech Planning
Districts must have a
current approved technology plan on file before Title II-D formula funds can
be released. Thus, if your district plan expires in 2004, you should submit
an updated version of your plan by 12/31/04. If your district plan expires
6/30/05, you should be revising it during this academic year and submit it no
later than 6/30/05. Verify a plan’s current approval status at www.nheon.org/oet/erate/TPstatus.html.
Reporting
Requirements
Districts receiving
funds from the 3rd round of Ed Tech formula funds meet reporting requirements
through completion of (a) the annual School Technology Survey for each building
in the district, (b) the LoTi Survey by at least 75% of teaching staff, and
(c) a progress report of previous year activities. The following dates apply
for each reporting item:
§

ATTENTION: MacSCHOOL
& WinSCHOOL USERS
======================================
The
Bureau of Information Services is requesting all districts who use MacSchool
software for student records management to check their year-end enrollment A3
report form data compiled for the NHDOE. This is the form that reports ½ day
attendance/absent, promoted/no promoted, etc. If you provide tech support to MacSchool
or WinSchool, please test your packages. There is a reported potential error
related to the calculation of ADM for students that are enrolled, transfer
out of the district, and then return. When the R (reentry) code was entered,
the ADM for the student included all the days the student was away at the
other school district. If you have students that left and then returned,
please check their ADM. If your package calculated the ADM incorrectly,
please contact Sallie Fellows at sfellows@ed.state.nh.us.
