EDUCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY NEWS ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Welcome back to a new school year! The Office of Educational Technology at the NH Department of Education has been working this summer trying to facilitate the collection of technology data required from NH schools. The following are a few of the changes we have made. Please note the important due dates.
In order for a school district to receive Educational Technology Funds
available through Title II Part D of the No Child Left Behind Act, as
well as e-rate discounts, school districts must have an approved technology
plan on file. As of September 1, 2002, all school districts must
revise their technology plans. That is, plans currently on file at the
NHDOE do not conform to the new requirements. A new school district technology
plan must reflect the goals of the new Statewide Educational Technology
Plan (See http://nheon.org/oet/stateplan).
This is a new state plan submitted in June 2002 and approved by the US
Department of Education to address the requirements of the new NCLB legislation.
To facilitate the process of school district tech plan approval, we have
created an electronic rubric for school districts to complete.
The 2002 technology survey is available at http://www.nheon.org/oet/survey02/ . This is the same survey that school building technology coordinators have completed in the past. We will now be trying to collect this information at the beginning of the school year. You will need your school identification number to complete the building survey. If you require that information, please contact Chrys Bouvier at cbouvier@ed.state.nh.us or 603-271-8049. These surveys must be completed by November 1, 2002 in order to be eligible for any technology funds administered by the NH Department of Education.
The Level of Technology Implementation (LoTi) assessments are now open
for the 2002-2003 school year. You may access the assessment from
http://nheon.org/oet/loti .
The closing date for these surveys will be early spring of 2003. If your
staff took these surveys late last school year, you may wish to time the
announcement of this to your staff so your data will be collected close
to a yearly interval. We received excellent data from the assessments
made last year and hope that school technology coordinators will be using
the information from last years LoTi assessments to complete the
information required in the School Building Technology Surveys.
LoTi is available to all schools in NH. If you need assistance with
the introduction of this tool to your staff, please contact Chrys Bouvier
at cbouvier@ed.state.nh.us or 603-271-8049. Regards, *** Visit us on the NHEON.ORG web site at www.nheon.org |
